Grace Greylock Niles research project

In 1904 Grace Greylock Niles published Bog Trotting for Orchids, a book about her experiences exploring for native orchids in and around her home town of Pownal, Vermont and nearby Williamstown, Massachusetts.  After a day spent searching out a rare fern in some of the same woodland “haunts,” Allison dreamed up the idea of exploring Grace’s life and revisiting the places she described so poetically.  The resulting research took us far and wide, and uncovered an astounding story.
